Our Lives After Dark

I am watching embers die,

while the fading heat pulls at the parchment of my hips.
The perfect mirror
to the insistent tug of your calloused hands
and the stars watch,
silently wishing on themselves for a fairy tale.

    I
      You
         We
are the reason
the lost and found of the universe
slowly fluctuates.
Filling
the passing time with:

        pressed lips
            whispered wanting hope
                   fingertips

  with you.

My heart is overflowing,
I was peeling-tearing-shredding at the fibers of my everything.

But then you happened.

And I found myself running
towards  your constellation skin,
hoping that maybe I could
  connect the dots
          across your chest,
      and over your heart.

I am watching embers die,
And I am seeing the stars finally emerge.
